Beverly Hills is located in southeastern Oakland County in Southfield Township. The area is considered a major suburb of the Detroit area. The Beverly Hills subdivision was organized in 1958 in order to establish an official village government. It was first incorporated as a village of Westwood and then later was changed to Beverly Hills. The area is mostly residential but also includes several shopping areas. The population of Beverly Hill's is 9,919 people and the median home cost is $308,750. The school district spends $10,573 per student and there is an average of 13 students per teacher.
Beverly Hills is home to a private prep school, Detroit Country Day School and several public schools: Groves High School, Berkshire Middle School, Beverly Elementary, and Greenfield Elementary.
The upper school and administrative offices of the Detroit Country Day School are in Beverly Hills. In addition the school's middle school campus is also in Beverly Hills.
