Dearborn Heights, MI
Dearborn Heights was known as Dearborn Township until 1963 when it was incorporated. Dearborn Heights is about a fifteen minute drive to the Detroit Metropolitan Airport and is close to the freeways, I-94 and I-96. The population of Dearborn Heights is 33,305 people. The Heights, as it is called, has one of the highest per capita ratios of park land to zone areas in the state. There are eight public parks and two tot lots. There are a lot of businesses, banks, restaurants which means there is access to all types of activities and services.
Wayne County is the city’s central location which offers easy access to numerous recreational, cultural and travel opportunities. The schools in the Heights are excellent and the district spends about $7,039 per student and there is an average of 19 students per teacher. The median home cost in Dearborn Heights is $132,030.
The Chamber of Commerce was organized in 1972 and it is the driving force of promoting the community and all it has to offer. The Chamber hosts the State of the City luncheon in January, a golf outing in June and many other events throughout the year.
