Durand, MI
Durand is a county located in Southeast Shiawassee County. Durand was named after George H. Durand in 1876. The village was incorporated in 1887 and was later a city in 1932. The community developed its economy around the railroad. Amtrak, provides daily service between Chicago and Port Huron, Michigan. The population of Durand is 10,007 people. The median home cost in Durand is $117,860, the cost of living is 24.80% which is lower then the U.S. average. The school district spends $5,432 per student and there are about 20 students per teacher.
Durand is the railroad hub of Mid-Michigan, it is located just 20 minutes west of Flint and 30 minutes east of Lansing. This offers a central location for people that live in the area and work in the other cities.
